Privacy Policy

The short version: LabelCropper does not collect your documents, because it never receives them.

What we do not collect

• The PDFs you open, and anything inside them — addresses, order numbers, SKUs, invoice values.
• Advertising or cross-site tracking identifiers.
• Payment card details. If you subscribe, these go to the payment provider, never to us.
• Your IP address. We record a one-way fingerprint of it, described below, and never the address itself.

Usage measurements

We record how the tools are used, so we can tell which parts are slow, which fail, and where people get stuck. This records actions, never content.

What a measurement can contain:

• Which step happened — a file was added, a crop finished, an export completed.
• Which tool page you were on, and how many pages were in the batch.
• How long a step took, and how many labels the cropper could not read.
• Whether the device is a phone, a tablet or a computer, and which browser family.
• A random identifier for the browser tab, which is created when the page loads and destroyed when you close it. It cannot recognise you tomorrow.

What a measurement cannot contain, by the design of the software rather than by our restraint: a file name, a SKU, an address, a tracking number, or any other text read out of a PDF. The function that records these accepts a step name and a few numbers, and has no way to carry a piece of text at all.

Individual measurements are deleted after fourteen days. What we keep beyond that is a daily total — visits, exports, labels processed — which describes days rather than people.

If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, we record nothing at all. The desktop app records nothing either.

Error reports

When something in the tools fails, the browser sends us the error so we can fix it: the message, the first few lines of the technical trace, which page it happened on, and the browser and version it happened in.

Error messages are the one place a file name could slip out — “could not read <your file>.pdf” is an ordinary thing for software to say. So every report is stripped before it leaves your browser and stripped again when it arrives: file names, quoted values, email addresses and any long run of digits, such as an order or tracking number, are replaced with a placeholder. Both passes are deliberately blunt, and they remove more than is strictly necessary.

Error reports are deleted after thirty days.

Your IP address

We never store your IP address. We store a keyed one-way fingerprint of it, made with a secret only our server holds, which lets us recognise the same connection again without being able to work out what the address was — including if the data were ever stolen. It is used to give each connection one free trial and to tell roughly how many distinct people are using the tools.

What stays on your device

A small amount of preference data — such as the marketplace you last chose — may be kept in your browser's own storage so the tool behaves sensibly next time. It stays on your device, is readable only by this site, and is cleared when you clear your browser data. Nothing else is stored, and none of it leaves your device.

Information you choose to send us

There is no contact form. If you email us, we hold that email so we can reply — nothing more: no marketing list, no resale, no sharing with third parties. Ask at any time and we will delete the correspondence.

Signing in

Signing in is optional and nothing on this site requires it to work. If you do sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google, and store them so we can show you which account you are using. We do not receive your Google password, and we do not read anything else in your Google account. Signing in does not change how your PDFs are handled: they are still opened and cropped entirely inside your browser and are never uploaded.

Free trial

To run a seven-day free trial we need some way to tell whether a visitor has already had one. We do that by taking your IP address, converting it to an irreversible fingerprint, and storing that fingerprint with the date the trial began. We do not store the IP address itself, and the fingerprint cannot be turned back into one.

Because IP addresses are shared and reassigned — mobile networks in particular put many people behind one address — this is an imperfect measure. If it tells you a trial has ended when you have never used one, write to us and we will sort it out.

Hosting and logs

The site is served as static files by our hosting provider, which — like any web host — records standard request information such as IP address, approximate location, browser type and the pages requested. We use this only to keep the site available and secure.

Your rights

We hold very little, so most requests are quick. Where we do hold something — your account details if you signed in, your trial fingerprint, or an email you sent us — you may ask for a copy of it, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Deleting your account removes your name, email and picture; say so and we will clear the trial record too. Write to [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days. This applies whether you are covered by the GDPR, the CCPA, India's DPDP Act, or none of them; we do not think the answer should depend on where you live.

Children

LabelCropper is a tool for businesses handling their own orders and is not directed at children.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date below changes with it. Because we collect so little, we do not expect it to change often.
